It is very important for us to establish links and gain support within the local community. We hope that by forging new relationships within the community and creating more awareness regarding mental health issues we will help in some way to dispel the stigma attached to mental illness. We also hope to encourage new customers and supporters and to raise the profile of the nursery.
How You Can Get Involved
Helping Out In The Shop
Helpers/Friends are required to help serve customers in our shop for a morning or afternoon on a regular basis
(9.30am - 12.30pm or 1pm to 3.30pm) and when no customers are on site to help with tidying and displaying plants.
An outgoing personality would be well suited to this role and any plant knowledge would be a bonus (but this is definitely not essential because experts are on hand if required).
Helping Out Behind the Scenes
We also need people willing to come in less frequently or as required to help us behind the scenes with photocopying, placing leaflets into envelopes and maybe making an occasional cup of tea or coffee !.
Helping Out With Leaflet And Display Stand Distribution
Finally, we are also looking for confident Helpers/Friends who are able to call into public buildings (e.g. community centres, doctors surgeries, dental surgeries etc) and ask permission to place our small perspex display stands.
Skills required for this are simply to wish to help us out and be comfortable talking to people about the charity and the support we provide to local people. |
